Wayne State's Maraskine and Jachowicz Named GLIAC Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University senior Sarah Maraskine (Midland, Mich./Dow) and sophomore Piotr Jachowicz (Lodz, Poland) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

Sarah Maraskine - Wayne State University
Senior - Midland, Mich./Dow

Wayne State senior Sarah Maraskine posted A cut times in the 200 Freestyle (1:49.00) and 100 Backstroke (:54.51) in this weekend's Eastern Michigan Invite. Maraskine also had B cuts in the 200IM (2:06.90) and the 200 Backstroke (2:00.24). She was also part of three victorious relay teams in the 200 and 400 medley as well as the 800 free.

Piotr Jachowicz - Wayne State University
Sophomore - Lodz, Poland

Wayne State sophomore Piotr Jachowicz broke two Eastern Michigan University Invitational meet and pool records Satuday and the Warriors finished third out of five teams in the two-day competition. Jachowicz (Lodz, Poland) broke a EMU meet and pool record by swimming a time of 54.66 in the 100 breaststroke. Jachowicz also lowered his WSU school record in the event. Jachowicz also earned EMU meet and pool records in the 200 individual medley by swimming a time of 1:47.47.
