GVSU's Danielle Vallier and LEC's Julian Milinkovskyi  Named GLIAC Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. - Grand Valley State University senior Danielle Vallier (Clinton Twp., Mich./Fraser) and Lake Erie College senior Julian Milinkovskyi (Ukraine) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

GLIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:

Caitlyn Madsen - Grand Valley State University
Senior  - Clinton Twp., Mich./Fraser

Grand Valley State senior Danielle Vallier tallied two first place finishes and a pair of second finishes in Grand Valley State's dual at Michigan State. The Spartans claimed 162-138 victory over the Lakers, but GVSU entered the final event with a chance to tie. Vallier recorded a first-place finish in the 100 breaststroke and hit the NCAA B standard when she touched the wall in 1:04.65, followed by a second-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.94). Vallier swam the second leg (Breaststroke) in the Lakers' first-place finishing 200 medley relay team that hit the NCAA B cut (1:45.36) and was a part of the second-place finishing 200 free relay team that also hit the B cut with a time of 1:35.23. The GVSU women are ranked number one in the country and will next be in action at the Doug Coers Invitational at Ball State. 

 

 


 

GLIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:

Julian Milinkovskyi - Lake Erie College
Senior - Ukraine

Lake Erie College senior Julian Milinkovskyi (Ukraine) posted two B-qualifying times this weekend against Gannon University.  The senior clocked in at 56.42 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 1:51.03 in the 200-yard IM.  In addition to winning those events, Julian also captured first in the 200-yard breaststroke and was part of the Storm's winning 200-yard medley relay team.  The Storm defeated Gannon 136-22.
