Ashland's Hannah Mattar and Philipp Sikatzki Named GLIAC Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. - Ashland University sophomore Hannah Mattar (Lake Orion, Michigan) and freshman Philipp Sikatzki (Leipzig, Germany) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

GLIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:

Hannah Mattar - Ashland University
Sophomore  - Lake Orion, Mich.

Ashland University's Hannah Mattar was selected as the GLIAC "Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week" after her stellar performance last weekend. She swam on the 400 yard Medley Relay team, placing first with a time of 3:52.43. Mattar finished second three times this weekend at Cleveland State. Mattar was the runner-up in the 200 yard IM where she swam 2:06.46. Her finish in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:17.29 got her second place and broke the school record. She also had a school record in the 400 IM. She finished with a time of 4:25.66. Mattar was a part of the third place 200 yard Medley Relay team which clocked in at 1:47.33

 

 

 


  

GLIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:

Philipp Sikatzki - Ashland University
Freshman - Leipzig, Germany

Ashland University's Philipp Sikatzki was selected as the Men's "Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week" after an impressive weekend for the Eagles. The freshman finished in first place three times, and had four second place finishes. Sikatzki finished the 200 yard IM with a time of 1:49.87 and a new meet record. In the 100 Backstroke he was first to finish again. He set a school, meet and pool record with a time of 48:45. He hit the NCAA A-cut mark in the 100 yard fly with a time of 48:00 and a first place finish. Sikatzki was a part of the second place 200 yard medley team where he broke the school record in the 50 Backstroke during his individual leg of the race. The relay finished with a time of 1:31.55. He helped the 400 yard Medley Relay (3:21.00), and 800 yard Freestyle Relay (6:49.88) to second place finishes. The freshman took second in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:49.59.
