Grand Valley State's Danielle Vallier and Sven Kardol Named GLIAC Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. - Grand Valley State University senior Danielle Vallier (Clinton, Twp./Fraser) and junior Sven Kardol (Nuenen, Netherlands) were named Great Lake Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's and Men's Swimming & Diving "Athletes of the Week," respectively, for their efforts last weekend.

GLIAC Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:

Danielle Vallier - Grand Valley State University
Senior  - Clinton, Twp./Fraser

Grand Valley State University's Danielle Vallier was a part of seven first-place finishes and eight NCAA DII B cuts at the Calvin Winter Invitational. Vallier recorded first-place finishes in the 100 (1:02.36) and 200 breaststroke (2:16.36), hitting the NCAA B cut in both. In addition, she hit the B cut in the 200 IM (2:08.60) with her second-place finish. Vallier swam legs on the 800 free relay  (7:346.51), 200 free relay (1:34.74), 400 medley relay (3:47.47) and 200 medley relay (1:44.70). GVSU finished first with 1,193 points. 

 

 

 


  

GLIAC Men's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week:

Sven Kardol - Grand Valley State University
Junior - Nuenen, Netherlands

Grand Valley State University's Sven Kardol (Jr. Nuenen, Netherlands) keyed the Lakers' first-place finish at the Calvin Winter Invitational with three individual first-place finishes. Kardol, who hit the NCAA B cut in all three events, touched the wall first in the 200 back (1:46.76), 200 fly (1:49.47) and the 400 IM (3:56.90). His 400 medley relay team also hit the B cut with a time of 3:22.70.
