MIDLAND, Mich. - The top-seeded Northwood University men's tennis team earned a 5-2 win over third-seeded Ferris State in the GLIAC Tournament Championship match Sunday morning (April 21) at the Midland Community Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.
Northwood, which also won its 19th straight GLIAC Championship, improves to 16-4 overall with the win. Ferris State stands at 15-5 with the loss.
The Timberwolves earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to open the match. FSU claimed a win at the top position to send the match into singles with Northwood leading 2-1
All four matches that were completed in singles finished in straight sets. Northwood posted victories at the bottom three positions to earn the championship.
Lorenzo Montegiorgi and Konstantin Zhukov each went 2-0 on the day for the Timberwolves.
In the tournament's Third-place match, No. 5 seed Ohio Dominican University defeated the No. 2 seed, Wayne State University, 5-4.
In the tournament's Fifth-place match, seventh-seeded Michigan Technological University downed fourth-seeded Grand Valley State University, 5-0/
In the tournament's Seventh-place match, No. 8 the University of Findlay defeated No. 6 Tiffin University, 5-3.
