Ohio Dominican's Gabor Csonka Earns GLIAC Men's Tennis Player of the Year

BAY CITY, Mich. - Ohio Dominican freshman Gabor Csonka has been selected 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Year as well as Freshman of the Year by league coaches as announced by the conference office on Sunday. Ferris State's Chad Berryhill was voted Coach of the Year after he guided the Bulldogs to their first outright conference title since 1994.

Gabor Csonka finished his first season with Ohio Dominican with the best statistical season in ODU history. Csonka finished the year with 23 wins and only one defeat in singles; finishing 9-0 in GLIAC play. Csonka earned all nine confrence wins without losing a set. In doubles play, Csonka accumulated 21 wins, finishing unbeaten at #1 at 8-0 with partner Justin Tjon. He was also named GLIAC Player of the Week twice this season.

Ferris State University men's tennis head coach Chad Berryhill led the Bulldogs to the school's first outright GLIAC regular-season championshio since 1994 this campaign. The Bulldog alum guided FSU to a perfect 9-0 league mark in the regular-season as FSU won its first title crown since sharing the crown in 1999. Ferris State unseated 20-time defending champion Northwood by topping the Timberwolves 6-3 in the regular-season as part of the a season-ending nine-match win streak heading into the league postseason tournament. Under Berryhill, FSU is also in line for an NCAA Tournament berth a one of the top-three ranked teams in the Midwest Region this year.
