NEW ORLEANS – The final national team rankings by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) before the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships keep Grand Canyon’s men as the top team in the country. Rankings this week were calculated using data from only those who declared and were accepted into the NCAA Championships field.
Grand Canyon leads all teams with 12 entries into the championship field — ten of which are in jumping events. Adams State, Ashland, and Indianapolis follows with 11 apiece.
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as a whole was ranked as the strongest conference with 374.44 points barely edging out the Northeast 10 (372.39) and the Rocky Mountain Conference (370.70). The GLIAC teams ranked in this week’s poll are:
- Ashland University remained No. 5
- The University of Findlay jumped two places to No. 7
- Grand Valley State University dropped three places to No. 17
- Lake Superior State University jumped two places to No. 23
The 2012 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held in Mankato, Minn., on March 9-10
