NU's Rono and LEC's Joe Postwaite Chosen As GLIAC Men's Indoor Track & Field "Athletes of the Week"

BAY CITY, Mich. -  Northwood University freshman Enock Rono (Eldoret, Kenya) and Lake Erie College sophomore Joe Postwaite (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) have been chosen as the GLIAC Men's Indoor Track & Field "Athletes of the Week."

GLIAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week:


Enock Rono - Northwood University
Freshman - Eldoret, Kenya

Northwood University freshman Enock Rono clocked the best time in the country in the 800 meter run at the GVSU Big Meet, clocking a 1:49.09.  That mark is a NCAA automatic qualifying mark and is a new Northwood school record.  The old record was set by former NU All-American Josh Weber in 2004 (1:51.54).  Rono has now registered NCAA qualifying marks in the 800, the 4X400 meter relay and the distance medley relay.

Joe Postwaite - Lake Erie College
Sophomore - Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili

One week after breaking the 50-foot barrier for the first time, Lake Erie College sophomore Joe Postwaite jumped 51' 2 ¾" (15.61 m) in the triple jump at the Cornell University Kane Invitational Saturday (Feb. 9) to automatic qualify for the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships and earn Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors.  Postwaite easily won the event and posted the second farthest jump in Division II to date this season.  The school-record effort is also the ninth best jump at any NCAA level.  Postwaite was the runner-up in the event at the 2012 GLIAC Indoor Championships and is the defending outdoor champion.
