NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Thursday that Ashland University was selected as the 2009 Mens Indoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year and as the 2009 Outdoor Track and Field Scholar Team of the Year.
Bay City, Mich.--The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced today the Spring 2009 All-Academic Teams. 564 student-athletes from twelve institutions were honored in the following sports; baseball, softball, men and women's golf, men's tennis and men and women's outdoor track and field. To be eligible for all-academic status, the student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0, on a 4.0 scale, and must not be a freshman or first year transfer.
Michigan Tech junior Ken Gilkerson was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American Cross Country and Track Field Third Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the Spring 2009 recipients of the GLIAC Commissioners Awards for Academic and Athletic Excellence. The awards, sponsored by Meijer, Incorporated, are presented after the Fall, Winter, and Spring athletic seasons to six male and six female student-athletes that excel both in the classroom and on the fields of play.
