Grand Valley State Claims 2012 GLIAC Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State University men's and women's teams claimed titles at the 2012 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at the GVSU Track & Field/Lacrosse Stadium.

The Lakers women's team outdistanced second place Ashland University by 114.5 points (239.0 - 124.5).  Tiffin University finished in third place with 74 points, while Northern Michigan Univeristy placed fourth with 69.5 points.

The GVSU men's team earned 213.5 points.  Ashland finished second with 161 points, while Findlay placed third with 117 points.  Tiffin finished in fourth place with 99 points.

 

The 2012 GLIAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Awards were handed out as follows:

Field Freshman of the Meet: Sherice Hewett – Northern Michigan

Running Freshman of the Meet: Brittney Bannister – Grand Valley State

Field Athlete of the Meet: Cheryl Bourne – Ashland

Running Athlete of the Meet: Raven Clay – Findlay

Coach of the Year: Matt Sparks – Lake Superior State
