Men and Women’s Cross Country Teams Gear Up For DII Regionals

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's and women's cross country teams will participate in the 2014 NCAA Division II Midwest Region Cross Country Championships being held at the Angel Mounds in Evansville, Ind. The regionals will be hosted by the University of Southern Indians and the Evansville Sports Corporations, Saturday, November 22 with the men’s 10K championship race beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by the women’s 6K at 11:45 a.m.

The Midwest Region features 12 nationally-ranked teams, the most of any region in the country, to go along with three more teams that are receiving votes in the top 25. Five men’s teams are ranked in the top 25 along with two more teams receiving votes, while seven women’s teams are ranked in the top 25, with an eighth team receiving votes.

 The top four teams in each race advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships, while the top 3 individuals that are not on an advancing team, qualify for nationals as well. All individuals who finish in the top five at the regional meet and are not part of a qualifying team also advance to nationals.
