SALEM, Va. - Saginaw Valley State Univeristy
senior outfielder Marsha Beaubien (Alpena, Mich.)
added more awards to her 2009 list of accolades as she was named
2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Second Team All-American, becoming the
first Cardinal softball player since 1992 to be named an
All-American, she was also named to the Daktronics Inc. Honarable
Mention All-American Team as well.
Beaubien was a major catalyst in the success of the SVSU softball
team that captured the 2009 NCAA Midwest Regional Championship and
was one win away from a berth to the 2009 NCAA Division II World
Series. Beaubien led the GLIAC in batting average (.396), runs
scored (45), slugging percentage (.649), on base percentage (.483),
tied for third with nine homeruns and fifth in RBI with 36. She
also was the league-leader with 40 stolen bases, a number that
out-ranks the other nine GLIAC teams, and also has stolen second
and third on consecutive plays five times this season.
Already this season Beaubien has been named Daktronics, Inc.
Midwest Player of the Year to go along with her GLIAC Player of the
Year honor she received at the 2009 conference tournament.
