MIDLAND, Mich.--The top seeds of the 2009 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Championship have reached the winners bracket final after the first day of tournament play on Friday.

Top-seeded Ashland University posted wins over eighth-seeded University of Findlay (3-2) and fifth-seeded Grand Valley State University (3-2) en route to the winners bracket final.

Saginaw Valley State University, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, downed No. 7 Tiffin University (5-2) and #3 Ferris State University (9-5), on Friday and will take on Ashland at Noon on Saturday.

The losers bracket semifinals will feature Grand Valley State facing Tiffin and Ferris State playing Wayne State at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
