Six GLIAC Student-Athletes Land on the 2012 Academic All-District Softball Team

BAY CITY, Mich. - The 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Softball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.  Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All-America teams program in 2011.

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) had six student-athletes earn Academic All-District status, led by 2012 GLIAC "Pitcher of the Year" senior Emlyn Knerem (Brunswick, Ohio) of Ashland University and 2012 GLIAC "Co-Player of the Year" sophomore Nikki Fulton (Stratford, Ont./St. Michael Catholic S.S.) of Wayne State University.

Knerem and Fulton are joined on the All-District team by Wayne State senior infielder Alison Allen (Redford, Mich./Farmington Hills Mercy), Ashland junior infielder Franki Gironda (Akron, Ohio/Hoban), Ferris State University junior infielder Chelsea Morris (Jenison, Mich.), and Wayne State sophomore outfielder Logan White (Brantford, Ont./Johnson C.V.I.).

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
