BAY CITY, Mich. - Ohio Dominican University freshman Allie Hinton (Newcomerstown, Ohio) and Wayne State University redshirt freshman Lyndsay Butler (Cambridge, Ontario) have been chosen as the GLIAC Softball  "Player of the Week" and  "Pitcher of the Week", respectively.

Ohio Dominican University freshman Allie Hinton was a commanding presence at the plate last week, instrumental in the Panthers going 4-2, including a sweep over then league-leading Grand Valley. Hinton hit .350 (7-for-20) with a .750 slugging percentage. Hinton scored five times, hit two homeruns, drove in seven, and had two doubles. The freshman went 1-for-4, which was her first grand slam of her young career against Northwood, then followed that up with the Panthers only run, after a solo homerun in the 1-0 victory over the Lakers.

GLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week:
Lyndsay Butler

Wayne State University redshirt freshman Lyndsay Butler compiled a 2-0 record with a save in three appearances. She struck out 20 and walked two in 16.1 innings, while recording two shutouts.  Butler did not allow any runs or earned runs on 14 hits for an ERA of 0.00 for the week. Butler struck out nine and walked one in a two-hit shutout of Malone in game one.  She entered game two vs. the Pioneers in the top of the fifth with two outs and runners on second and third and WSU holding a 2-1 lead.  Butler struck out Malone’s No. 3 hitter, then struck out five of Malone’s final nine batters to preserve the win.
