QUINCY, Ill. – The 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Softball Teams have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) softball student-athletes were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District™ Softball Teams. Ohio Dominican senior Montana Fishel along with Wayne State's Lyndsay Butler, Jade McGarr and Kristen Lucas were all named on the academic recognition list.

Fishel, a business administration major, carries a 3.93 GPA in the classroom. On the field, Fishel earned Honorable Mention All-GLIAC honors as she closed the season with a .336 batting average and ranked 16th in the league in hits (49). She scored 24 runs, had 10 RBIs and stole nine bases in her final campaign after missing her entire junior season due to injury. She was second on the team with 14 multi-hit games. A First Team All-GLIAC pick in 2014, Fishel closed her career with a .322 batting average and 62 runs scored in three seasons.
Wayne State junior pitcher Lyndsay Butler earned Academic All-District recognition for the second consecutive year, while senior third baseman Jade McGarr and sophomore outfielder Kristen Lucas are first time honorees. Butler maintains a 3.45 cumulative GPA in psychology, while McGarr has a 3.51 cumulative GPA in kinesiology. Lucas has a 3.87 cumulative GPA in kinesiology after three semesters.

The Academic All-District™ teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
The Division II and III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures, to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2015-16 DII and DIII Academic All-America® teams program.
First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
