GLIAC Notches 10 D2CCA Softball All-Region Honorees; WSU's Butler Player of the Year

Official 2017 D2CCA All-Midwest Region Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind.— University of Southern Indiana freshman pitcher Jennifer Leonhardt and Wayne State University (Michigan) senior utility player (pitcher) Lyndsay Butler have been named the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association Midwest Region Softball Pitcher and Player of the Year, respectively, in a vote by the Midwest Region's sports information directors. Butler is one of 10 GLIAC softball standouts to earn all-region accolades.

The reigning Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II Player of the Year, Butler was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year for the second straight season. Butler is currently hitting .450 with 10 doubles, five triples, seven home runs and 39 RBIs at the plate this season. In the circle, Butler is 24-9 overall with four saves, a 0.61 ERA and 206 strike outs. Butler's efforts have guided the Warriors to a 40-14 overall record and their second straight appearance in the NCAA II Midwest Super Regional.
