Saginaw Valley's Reeves, Wayne State's Butler Capture GLIAC Softball Player of the Week Awards

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following the final week of the 2017 regular seasonSaginaw Valley junior Courtney Reeves earned GLIAC Softball Player of the Week honors, while Wayne State senior Lyndsay Butler captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Courtney Reeves - Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley junior Courtney Reeves had a big week offensively for the Cardinals in leading the team to a 4-2 record. She hit .375, going 6-for-16 with five home runs, nine RBI, a double and three walks. She had two multiple HR games and her two-run shot Saturday versus GVSU tied the SVSU single season record, as it was her 12th of the season. The 12 home runs are tied for the GLIAC lead. 


PITCHER OF THE WEEK: Lyndsay Butler - Wayne State

Wayne State senior Lyndsay Butler won both games of a doubleheader against Hillsdale as WSU entered the final regular-season day tied with Hillsdale for third place. Butler allowed just one run on eight singles in 13 innings with six strikeouts to two walks for a 0.54 ERA. She finished her GLIAC regular-season career with a 41-9 record (.820 winning percentage) and seven saves, along with 43 complete games, 394 strikeouts, and 40 earned runs in 343.2 innings for a 0.81 career GLIAC game ERA.
