Northwood's Pauley, Wayne State's Butler Capture GLIAC Softball Player of the Week Awards

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following the third week of the 2017 campaign. Northwood junior Sydni Pauley earned GLIAC Softball Player of the Week honors, while Wayne State senior Lyndsay Butler captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Sydni Pauley, Northwood

Northwood junior Sydni Pauley got her season off to a tremendous start, hitting four home runs in the first three games of the season. Overall for the opening weekend in six games, Pauley hit .389 with four homers and eight RBIs. She finished with a .421 on-base percentage and a 1.056 slugging percentage. Despite having only played six games this season, Pauley currently leads the GLIAC in home runs while ranking fourth in RBIs. Every player ahead of her in RBIs has played at least nine games.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Lyndsay Butler, Wayne State

Wayne State senior Lyndsay Butler went 3-1 on the weekend with 28 strikeouts to 3 walks. She allowed 12 hits in 23 innings tossing shutouts against Illinois Springfield and Lewis. Butler earned the win in relief against Wisconsin-Parkside with three hitless innings of relief. Four WSU miscues accounted for six unearned runs in the 6-2 setback to Winona State.
