Wayne State's Butler Sweeps GLIAC Softball Player of the Week Awards

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following the fourth week of the 2017 campaign. Wayne State senior Lyndsay Butler swept both GLIAC Softball Player & Pitcher of the Week honors after an impressive week from the 2016 NFCA Player of the Year.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Lyndsay Butler, Wayne State

Wayne State senior Lyndsay Butler batted .588 (10-for-17) with 12 RBI as WSU went 5-0 at the Shaw Invitational. Butler smacked three home runs and one double for a 1.176 slugging percentage. She also walked twice for a .632 on-base percentage and had three stolen bases.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Lyndsay Butler, Wayne State

Wayne State senior Lyndsay Butler appeared in three of WSU's five wins during the Shaw Invitational recording two victories and a save. She allowed just six hits and no earned runs (two unearned runs) in 15.2 innings with 25 strikeouts to zero walks. This marks the second straight week Butler has earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week accolades.
