D2CCA -- Grand Valley State junior pitcher Allison Lipovsky was named to the Division II Collegiate Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-American Second Team, per a release from the D2CCA on Wednesday (May 23) morning. This is the first All-American honor for Lipovsky, as she becomes the eighth Laker since 2007 to earn a nod from the D2CCA. Saginaw Valley State utility Courtney Reeves was also recognized as a D2CCA All-America Honorable Mention selection.

This is just one of many awards that the righty has collected for her junior campaign. Just recently she was named the All-Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year and All-Midwest First Team by the D2CCA, while the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) named her to the NFCA All-Midwest Region First Team. Additionally, she was named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Year for the second season in a row and earned her second All-GLIAC First Team honor as well.

Lipovsky finished her season with a 22-5 record and a 0.81 ERA. In her 191.0 innings pitched, she struck out 309 batters and walked just 28 while holding opposing lineups to a .139 batting average. In her 30 appearances in the circle, she made 27 starts, threw 27 complete games, and tallied 14 solo shutouts while combining for one more. The Harrison, Mich. native led the entire NCAA DII field with 11.3 strikeouts per seven innings, while her total strikeouts and shutouts ranked second in the nation. She also ranked third in strikeout to walk ratio (11.04) and hits allowed per seven innings (3.37), while ranking fourth in ERA.

The Lakers recently wrapped up their 2018 campaign with a final 44-9 overall record, a trip to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament championship game, a GLIAC Tournament Title, and a GLIAC Regular Season Title.
