GVSU's Lipovsky Named Finalist for Schutt Sports/NFCA National Player of the Year

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Grand Valley State junior Allison Lipovsky has been named as a top-25 finalist for the 2018 Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Player of the Year award, per a release from the NFCA on Monday afternoon (April 29).
 
Lipovsky has racked up a 15-3 record in the circle for the Lakers so far this season and boasts just a 0.83 ERA in 118.0 innings pitched. The righty currently leads the entire NCAA Division II field in both strikeout-to-walk ratio at 11.33 and strikeouts per seven innings with an average of 12.1 punchouts. Her 10 shutouts this season also ranks second in the nation while her 0.83 ERA is fourth, her 3.32 hits allowed per seven innings is fifth, and her 204 total strikeouts is seventh.
 
The Top 10 finalists will be announced on May 15 with the 2018 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division II National Player of the Year revealed on June 4.
 
The award was created in 2015 to honor the outstanding athletic achievement among softball student-athletes throughout Division II. North Georgia's Courtney Poole was the inaugural winner of the award.
