GVSU's Lipovsky, Northwood's Castellon Capture GLIAC Softball Player of the Week Awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following the third week of the 2018 campaign. Northwood freshman Lauren Castellon earned GLIAC Softball Player of the Week honors, while Grand Valley State junior pitcher Allison Lipovsky captured Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Allison Lipovsky, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State junior pitcher Allison Lipovsky went 4-0 in victories over Notre Dame (Ohio), Cedarville, #13 Southern Indiana and Illinois-Springfield on the week. Lipovsky allowed just one run in all four games while surrenduring nine hits in 28 innings of work. She tossed a 14-strikeout perfect game against Notre Dame to begin the week before holding Cedarville to just three hits and #13 Southern Indiana to two hits. Lipovsky tallied 47 strikeouts to just one walk while holding a 0.25 ERA throughout the four-game stretch.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Lauren Castellon, Northwood

Northwood freshman Lauren Castellon had a fast start in Northwood's trip to Florida, batting .800 with eight RBIs with four runs scored in NU's 4-0 start to their spring trip. In three of her four games, she did not record an out at the plate (2-2, 2-2, 3-3). Castellon had at least one RBI in all four games and had a pair of games with three RBIs.
