Northwood's Wright, Tiffin's Hess Tabbed GLIAC Softball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following the fourth week of the 2018 campaign. Tiffin sophomore Gabrielle Hess was named GLIAC Player of the Week, while Northwood redshirt freshman Taylor Wright earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Gabrielle Hess, Tiffin

Tiffin sophomore Gabrielle Hess exploded offensively in Tiffin's 6-0 week, hitting at a blistering .667 clip with a massive 1.400 slugging percentage and a .632 on base percentage. She had 6 doubles with a triple and home run. She had 4 RBI in a 12-3 win over Urbana and 2 doubles and 3 hits for 6 RBI against Alderson Broaddus. She also scored 7 runs and posted RBIs in all but one game for the week.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Taylor Wright, Northwood

Northwood redshirt freshman Taylor Wright had a great week for Northwood in Florida during spring break, winning four games and registering a save in six appearances last week. Wright posted a 0.83 ERA for the week, striking out 49 batters in 33 innings of work. She also tied the Northwood school record with 17 strikeouts in Northwood's 1-0 win over Millersville. Wright currently ranks third in the GLIAC in wins (seven) and strikeouts (76). She was a big part of the Timberwolves posting an 11-3 record on their trip to Florida.
