GVSU's Goble and Lipovsky sweep softball player of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following Week 4 of the 2019 season. Grand Valley State freshman infielder Lydia Goble was named Player of the Week, while GVSU senior Allison Lipovsky was the Pitcher of the Week.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Lydia Goble - Grand Valley State

Freshman third baseman Lydia Goble (Schoolcraft, Mich.) hit .324 in 10 games in Florida while helping the Lakers to a 9-1 record overall. She homered four times and tallied 12 RBIs. Goble hit back-to-back home runs against Minnesota State-Mankato to help the Lakers to a 5-4 win. She had multiple hits against Wilmington (Del.), Stonehill, MSU-Mankato and Edinboro. Defensively, she totaled seven putouts, 16 assists and two errors.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Allison Lipovsky - Grand Valley State

Senior Allison Lipovsky (Harrison, Mich.) went 5-0 with a 1.00 ERA to help GVSU to an 11-1 record at the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Fla....All five were complete games where she totaled 53 strikeouts to just five walks and didn't allow an extra-base hit. Lipovsky averaged 10.60 strikeouts per seven innings. She tallied a season-high 15 strikeouts in a 6-1 win over Northern State and had 13 against Wilmington.
