Ferris State's Ramirez is GLIAC softball player of the week, WSU's Guitar pitcher of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following Week 4 of the 2019 season. Ferris State sophomore infielder Kodi Ramirez was named Player of the Week, while Wayne State senior Megan Guitar was the Pitcher of the Week.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kodi Ramirez - Ferris State

Ferris State sophomore second baseman Kodi Ramirez (Peoria, Ariz.) hit a team-leading .417 overall for the Bulldogs in eight outings this past week at The Spring Games in Florida. Ramirez compiled 10 hits and scored seven runs with five RBI in 24 plate appearances, while also generating two homers and drawing a walk. She had an impressive .875 slugging percentage and posted seven extra-base hits while totaling 21 total bases. She also registered two stolen bases and had only a single error in the field as FSU posted four wins against strong competition. 

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Megan Guitar - Wayne State

Senior Megan Guitar (Croswell, Mich.) went 3-2 on the week with one save, but WSU scored one run in the two setbacks (lost 2-1 and 2-0). She limited opposing batters to a .177 batting average, and struck out 31 to only six walks in 35 innings. Guitar had four complete games and allowed just 22 hits. She posted a 1.40 earned run average.
