GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its fourth weekly awards for the 2021 softball season. Grand Valley St. swept the weekly honors with junior Nikoma Holmen earning Player of the Week, and sophomore teammate Hanna Beatus winning Pitcher of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK  - Nikoma Holmen , Grand Valley State

Nikoma Holmen has been named GLIAC Player of the Week for the first week of conference action as she led the Laker offense to 41 runs and a 6-0 start in GLIAC play. She hit .500 with a pair of home runs and six RBI for the weekend as a staple in the cleanup spot for the Laker lineup. The Wyoming, Michigan native recorded at least one hit in every game this week and has an overall hitting streak of eight straight games. She drew a pair of walks as well and only struck out once in 22 at-bats. She had a pair of three-hit games during the week as well, including game two against Ferris State and game one against Northwood, which included an RBI single in the seventh to help break a 4-4 tie in an eventual 6-4 win.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Beatus, Grand Valley State

Hannah Beatus has earned GLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors after going 3-0 in the circle to help the Lakers start the GLIAC season 6-0, allowing five earned runs over 19 innings of work. She went five innings and allowed a run on just one hit against Parkside Thursday and allowed one earned run in a complete game win over Northwood on Sunday.
