GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its fifth weekly awards for the 2021 softball season. Purdue Northwest senior Taylor Stevens was named Softball Player of the Week, while Wayne State senior Amy Claydon was selected Softball Pitcher of the Week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK  - Taylor Stevens, Purdue Northwest

Taylor Stevens, a senior from Hebron, Ind., helped Purdue Northwest claim two GLIAC wins last week. Stevens hit a walk-off grand slam to beat Parkside and then slugged a three-run homer in a road win at Davenport, running her GLIAC-leading home run total to six. Stevens finished the week hitting .300 and slugging .900 at the plate while extending her hitting streak to six games. She recorded seven RBIs, a pair of walks and a stolen base during the week.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK -  Amy Claydon, Wayne State

Wayne State University senior pitcher Amy Claydon (Cambridge, Ont.) has been selected GLIAC Pitcher of the Week.  Claydon won three road starts last week, after not pitching in the first 15 games.  She tossed a five-hit shutout at #19-Grand Valley State on Tuesday, earned the victory at Northwood on Friday, and held FSU to two first inning runs in a 3-2 win on Saturday.   Claydon posted a 2.14 ERA with six strikeouts to just two walks in 19.2 innings.
