FSU's Prince and DU's Miller awarded weekly softball honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following week 3 of the 2022 season. Ferris State sophomore Josie Prince was selected Player of the Week while Davenport junior Emma Miller received Pitcher of the Week honors.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK  - Josie Prince, Ferris State

Ferris State University sophomore Josie Prince (Big Rapids, Mich.) had a big weekend for the Bulldogs as FSU opened its spring trip to Florida with a perfect 3-0 mark. She hit a team-leading .500 overall in the three games, totaling a squad-best seven hits with four RBI's and four runs scored for FSU, which has now won seven of its last eight games. She also stole three bases and accounted for seven total bases. Prince had two hits or more in all three contests, including three hits with two RBI's to open the trip in a 9-1 win over Holy Family on Saturday.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Emma Miller, Davenport

Emma Miller (Mount Dora, Fla.) gave up only three earned runs (seven total) in 25 and one-third innings pitched for an ERA of just 0.83. Miller struck out 22 batters, including a career-high nine on Tuesday against Gannon, to just four walks with an opposing batting average of .235. She ranks first in the GLIAC in complete games (7), tied for first in wins (5), second in innings pitched (45.1), fifth in strikeouts (27), and seventh in ERA (0.93).
