GVSU's Wagner and Beatus recognized with GLIAC weekly softball awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly softball awards following week two of the 2023 season. Grand Valley State swept the awards, with redshirt senior Morgan Wagner receiving player of the week recognition and redshirt senior Hannah Beatus earning pitcher of the week accolades.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Morgan Wagner, Grand Valley State 

Redshirt senior Morgan Wagner went 9-for-15 from the plate at the Lewis Dome Tournament and drove in 10 runs to help the Lakers go 5-0 in their first five games. Three of Wagner’s nine hits were doubles and she racked up 12 total bases.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Beatus, Grand Valley State

Redshirt senior Hannah Beatus tossed a no-hitter in the Lakers’ first game of the season to defeat Minnesota Duluth. Beatus also tossed a complete-game shutout to beat Winona State on Sunday. Beatus threw 22 strikeouts in 15.2 innings of work at the Lewis Dome Tournament and surrendered just six hits.
