Parkside's Remington and GVSU's Beatus earn GLIAC weekly softball recognition

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly softball awards following week eight of the 2023 season. Parkside sophomore Haley Remington was honored as player of the week and Grand Valley State redshirt senior Hannah Beatus was named pitcher of the week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Haley Remington, Parkside

Haley Remington went on an offensive tear for the Parkside Rangers this weekend. In a pair of victories for the Rangers, Remington went 6-for-8 with four runs and an RBI. The sophomore from Elkhorn, Wis. improved her batting average on the year to a team-leading .346.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Beatus, Grand Valley State

Hannah Beatus was stellar for the Lakers last week, pitching in four games and starting in three of them. Beatus was the winning pitcher in each of her four appearances for GVSU. She totaled 23 innings of work over four games, tossing three complete games. Beatus struck out 27 batters to extend her GLIAC lead. She gave up six earned runs, which marked her first earned runs given up this season.
