GVSU's Van Noort Named CollegeSwimming Division II GLIAC Women's Swimmer of the Week

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Grand Valley State senior Leonie Van Noort (Leiden, Netherlands) has been named CollegeSwimming News GLIAC Swimmer of the Week it was announced Thursday. Van Noort played a key role in the Lakers going 3-0 in dual meets last weekend with wins over Lewis (180-51), Hillsdale (218-68) and Calvin College (211.5-85.5). GVSU will next be in action Saturday (Oct. 29) at Northern Michigan versus the Wildcats and Saginaw Valley State.

Van Noort showed her versatility over the two dual meets, swimming multiple strokes as a sprinter and distance swimmer. She won the 1000 free (10:29.61) and finished second in the 100 free (54.51) versus Lewis. Leonie also swam the second leg for the Lakers on the first-place finishing 200 free relay (1:40.04).  Van Noort then recorded a pair of individual wins  vs. Hillsdale/Calvin Saturday, touching first in the 200 free (1:56.80) and 200 back (2:06.94), followed by the lead leg (54.35) in the first-place finishing 400 free relay.
