Wayne State's Ribeiro, Grand Valley State's Postmus Capture GLIAC Swimming Athlete of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its 11th and final weekly awards for the swimming and diving season prior to the 2018 GLIAC Swimming & Diving Championships. Grand Valley State senior Sam Postmus earned GLIAC Male Athlete of the Week accolades, while Wayne State sophomore Joao Ribeiro captured GLIAC Female Athlete of the Week honors.


MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Joao Ribeiro, Wayne State

Wayne State sophomore Joao Ribeiro competed in three events against Findlay on Friday, winning the 400 IM by nearly 17 full seconds with an NCAA B cut time of 4:01.39.  Ribeiro also competed in the 100 fly finishing second in a time of 53.57, while placing third in the 100 breast (1:01.03).


FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Sam Postmus, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior Sam Postmus turned in an impressive day as the Lakers split a tri-meet with Indianapolis and Lindenwood. Postmus recorded three first-place finishes in the meet and hit three NCAA provisional marks in the process. Postmus won the 200 free (1:51.62), 500 free (4:59.06) and 200 IM (2:05.13) in dominating fashion as she competed in the final regular season meet of her career.
