NMU's Probstfeld, SVSU's Yap Collect GLIAC Weekly Awards

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its fifth weekly awards for the swimming and diving season. Northern Michigan junior Angela Probstfeld earned GLIAC Female Athlete of the Week accolades, while Saginaw Valley senior Shaun Yap captured GLIAC Male Athlete of the Week honors.


FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Angela Probstfeld, Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan junior Angela Probstfeld set two pool records and two school records in the two diving events. In 11 dives of the one-meter event, she posted a score of 477.07 to win and set the pool and school record. During the three-meter dives, she set the PEIF Pool and NMU school record with a score of 522.00 on 11 dives. 


MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Shaun Yap, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley senior Shaun Yap had a big meet for the the Cardinals in the team's 179-76 victory at Valparaiso on Saturday afternoon. Yap claimed victory in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, turning in times of 56.93 and 2:06.55, respectively. His 100 time ranks third in the GLIAC for 2017-18 and his 200 time is currently fourth in the league. He was a member of a pair of relay victories as well, contributing to wins in the 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle relays.
