Ashland's Nasser & Reichard Sweep GLIAC Swimming Athlete of the Week Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its eighth weekly awards for the swimming and diving season. Ashland senior Grace Reichard earned GLIAC Female Athlete of the Week accolades, while Ashland freshman Dylan Nasser captured GLIAC Male Athlete of the Week honors as the Eagles excelled against Division I opponent Cleveland State.


FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Grace Reichard, Ashland

200 Freestyle - 1:56.63
100 Freestyle - 53.56

Ashland senior Grace Reichard won a pair of events in a dual meet against Cleveland State on Saturday (Dec. 9), taking the top spot in the 200 freestyle (1:56.53) and the 100 freestyle (53.56 seconds). Reichard is the first women’s swimmer to win a GLIAC weekly award since Kaylyn Murphy won back-to-back awards on Jan. 13 and 21, 2016.


MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Dylan Nasser, Ashland

200 Backstroke - 1:55.70
100 Backstroke - 53.51

Ashland freshman Dylan Nasser was the winner in the 200 backstroke, clocking in at 1:55.70. He came in second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.51 seconds. Nasser is the first AU men’s swimmer to win since teammate Ryan Deemer won on Oct. 13, 2015, alongside Reichard, who won the female award on that date.
