Northern Michigan's Helm, Reinhold Sweep GLIAC Swimming Athlete of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the first weekly awards of the new swimming and diving season. Northern Michigan junior Jonas Reinhold earned GLIAC Male Athlete of the Week accolades, while NMU junior Rachel Helm captured GLIAC Female Athlete of the Week honors.


MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jonas Reinhold - Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan junior Jonas Reinhold helped lead a successful Saturday meet for the men's team, winning two individual races and was a member of a winning relay. Reinhold won the 200-yard Butterfly in 1:56.81, and the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 4:48.34. He was also a member of a winning relay team in Friday's meet. 


FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Rachel Helm - Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan junior Rachel Helm won the 200-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:59.73, beating her opponents by nearly eight seconds. Her time leads the country by four seconds and is an NCAA B-Cut qualifying time. Helm also won the 100-yard Backstroke on Saturday by over a second, 56:04, and helped the team to a first-place finish in her 200-yard Medley Relay. On Friday, she won the 100-yard Individual Medley with a time of 58.57.
