Grand Valley State's Saura-Armengol & Shiff Sweep GLIAC Swimming Athlete of the Week Awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the fifth weekly awards of the swimming and diving season. Grand Valley State junior Oscar Saura Armengol earned GLIAC Men's Athlete of the Week accolades, while Grand Valley State freshman Neta Shiff captured GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Week honors.


MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Oscar Saura-Armengol - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State junior Oscar Saura-Armengol has been named the GLIAC Swimmer of the Week for his performance in the #10 Lakers’ 204-94 victory over #4 Northern Michigan. Saura-Armengol touched the wall first in the 200 butterfly (1:51.23), the 100 freestyle (46.91) and 100 butterfly (49.72), while also swimming the final leg on the first-place finishing 200 medley relay (1:33.30).  

 


FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Neta Shiff  - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State freshman Neta Shiff has been named the GLIAC Swimmer of the Week for her performance in the #10 Lakers’ 159-141 victory over #4 Northern Michigan in GLIAC dual-meet action. Shiff finished first in the 1000 freestyle (10:20.45) and the 500 freestyle (5:06.38), touched second in the 200 freestyle (1:57.09) and swam the second leg on the 400 free relay team (3:39.51). GVSU won eight events and recorded a 1-2 finish in four additional events.
