NEW ORLEANS -- On Wednesday (May 24) morning, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced that former Ashland University standout Sean Robbins is a member of its 2017 NCAA Division II Athlete Hall of Fame class.

Robbins won five Division II national championships in the long jump during his time as an Eagle – 1993 indoors, 1994 indoors, 1995 outdoors, 1996 indoors and 1996 outdoors. According to the USTFCCCA, his three indoor individual titles are tied for the second-most in a single event over a career in NCAA Division II.

In all, Robbins earned 10 D-II All-American honors at Ashland, including placing fifth with the 4x400-meter relay team indoors in 1993, fifth in the 400 dash indoors in 1994, second in the long jump outdoors in 1994, second in the long jump indoors in 1995 and sixth in the triple jump indoors in 1995.

Despite having left collegiate track and field more than two decades ago, Robbins still ranks as the fifth-best men's long jumper indoors in Division II (7.91 meters/25-feet-11½), and as D-II's eighth-best men's long jumper outdoors (8.09 meters/26-feet-6½).

Robbins also still claims Ashland men's records for long jump and triple jump indoors, and 100 dash and long jump outdoors.

Robbins is part of the seventh-member Hall of Fame class, which will be enshrined into the NCAA Division II Athlete Hall of Fame Wednesday evening prior to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Bradenton, Fla.
