Ashland Men, Grand Valley State Women Capture 2017 GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

2017 GLIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Central

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The men from Ashland University and the women from Grand Valley State University captured 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday (May 5) at the GVSU Track & Field Stadium. The Ashland Eagles clinched its 11th men's title in program history, while the GVSU Laker women extended its impressive streak of GLIAC outdoor titles to 18 consecutive.

The Grand Valley State women amassed a total of 185.5 points on the week well in front of Findlay in second with 87 points, while Hillsdale collected 83 points in third. The Tiffin Dragons recorded a fourth-place showing (74 points), while Northern Michigan (71.5) finished in fifth position.

Jud Logan and his men's squad gathered its first outdoor title since 2013 with 175 points and withstood a late charge from Tiffin (162) in second as Grand Valley State took third with 136.5 points. Hillsdale (75.5) placed fourth and Saginaw Valley rounded out the Top 5 with 66 points.
