GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors | Week 4

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the fourth weekend of the 2016-17 indoor track and field season. In women's competition, Saginaw Valley sophomore Ce'Aira Richardson earned GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week honors, while Ashland senior thrower Megan Tomei captured GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week accolades for the third straight week. On the men's side, Northwood's Rami Gharsalli earned GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week distinction, while Ashland junior Elijah Talk captured GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week recognition.


WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Ce'Aira Richardson, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley sophomore Ce'Aira Richardson had a standout performance at the SVSU Classic, hosted on Saturday afternoon. Richardson notched a provisional time in the 400 meters with her mark of 57.00 seconds, claiming a first place finish. She has the second-best time in the GLIAC with that performance and the 13th overall in NCAA Division II. 


WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Megan Tomei, Ashland

Ashland senior Megan Tomei earned a new automatic nationals-qualifying effort in the women's weight throw with a winning mark of 20.21 meters/66-feet-3¾. She also finished first in the women’s shot put (15.36 meters/50-feet-4¾). So far in 2016-17, Tomei has the second-best shot put and third-best weight throw in NCAA Division II.


MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Rami Gharsalli, Northwood

Northwood's Rami Gharsalli finished first at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open with a sizzling time of 8.02 in the 60 meter hurdles. Gharsalli's time is the best in the GLIAC and No. 3 in Division II.


MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Elijah Talk, Ashland

Ashland junior Elijah Talk won the men’s shot put at Findlay with a top mark of 17.92 meters/58-feet-9½. That mark is the No. 2 distance in Division II this season.
