Trio of Eagles, Wayne State's Seals Collect Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the second weekend of the 2017-18 indoor track and field season. In women's competition, Wayne State senior Karrington Seals earned GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week honors, while Ashland junior Natalie Helenthal captured GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week accolades. On the men's side, Ashland junior Myles Pringle earned GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week distinction, while Ashland senior Elijah Talk captured GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week recognition.


WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Karrington Seals, Wayne State

Wayne State senior Karrington Seals, a two-time Indoor Track All-American, began her 2017-18 season with a provisional mark.  Seals won the 60m hurdles event at Findlay's Oiler Opener in a time of 8.72, which is the 11th fastest time in Division II this year, and also leads the GLIAC.  She has the 13 fastest times in the event in the six-year history of the program.


WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Natalie Helenthal, Ashland

Ashland junior Natalie Helenthal finished second in the women’s weight throw at 19.59 meters/64-feet-3¼ on Friday at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala. That mark was a new personal record, and moved Helenthal to the No. 2 spot in NCAA Division II as Helenthal grabs her second consecutive weekly conference award.


MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Myles Pringle, Ashland

Ashland junior Myles Pringle earned his second automatic mark for 2018 indoor nationals finishing first in the men’s 400-meter dash in 47.00 seconds at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala. Pringle also earned a provisional nationals mark as part of the 4x400 relay team (first place, 3:15.71). He leads the country in both the 400 dash and the high jump (2.15 meters/7-feet-0½), and the 4x4 relay team is ranked No. 8 in the nation.


MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Elijah Talk, Ashland

Ashland senior Elijah Talk finished second in the men’s shot put at 17.64 meters/57-feet-10½ on Saturday at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala. In his first action of the season, Talk moved into fourth place in the country with his provisional effort.
