GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Weekly Honors | Week 8

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the eighth weekend of the 2017-18 indoor track and field season prior to the 2018 GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. In women's competition, Northern Michigan junior Shayla Huebner earned GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week honors, while Grand Valley State junior Bobbie Goodwin captured GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week accolades for the second time this year. On the men's side, Ashland junior Myles Pringle earned GLIAC Track Athlete of the Week distinction for the third time this season, while Tiffin freshman Vincent Vogel captured GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week recognition.


MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Myles Pringle - Ashland

At the Kent State Tune Up on Saturday, Ashland junior Myles Pringle won three events, broke his own school record in the men’s high jump and improved on a previous nationals provisional time in the men’s 200-meter dash. He won the high jump at 2.18 meters/7-feet-1¾, which also was an improved automatic qualifying mark for 2018 NCAA Division II indoor nationals. He also won the 200 dash in 21.37 seconds, and the 400 dash in 47.30 seconds. Pringle also was a member of the men’s 4x400 relay team which took second in 3:16.55.


WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Bobbie Goodwin - Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State junior Bobbie Goodwin won her event in the weight throw, after she hit a provisional mark and set a new personal-best of 19.31m (63’ 4.25’’) on Friday evening during the GVSU Tune-Up. Goodwin’s now holds the second best distance in the GLIAC and the sixth best in Division II. 


WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Shayla Huebner - Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan junior Shayla Huebner took the top-spot in the 800-meter run at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge with a provisional time of two minutes, 13.17 seconds. The time ranks second all-time at NMU and currently sits at 18th-quickest in the country. Heading into the GLIAC Championships, Huebner's time if the third-best in the conference this season. 


MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Vincent Vogel - Tiffin

Tiffin freshman Vincent Vogel had another strong week with the Tiffin University track and field team, hitting an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the long jump with 7.62 meters (25-0). The mark was tops at the Kent State Tune-up and also gives him the top mark in the GLIAC this season. His leap also ranks third in the NCAA this season.
