Grand Valley State & Tiffin Sit Atop National Rankings Headed Into GLIAC Indoor Championships

Official USTFCCCA Releases: MEN | WOMEN

GLIAC - The Grand Valley State University women remain No. 1 for the fifth consecutive week while the Tiffin University men earned its first-ever No. 1 ranking in program history in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II National Team Rankings released on Tuesday (Feb. 20). Both programs will head to the Kelly Family Sports Center this weekend for the 2018 GLIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25th.

MEN – There's a new leader in the clubhouse in the NCAA Division II Men's National Team Rankings. For the first time in program history, Tiffin is the team to beat in the rankings, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday. The Dragons jumped up one spot to overtake Colorado Mines in the rankings.

Tiffin got a couple of solid marks in field events at the Kent State Tune Up and the Findlay Meet for Everyone. Vincent Vogel hit an NCAA Division II Automatic Qualifying Mark in the long jump with a leap of 7.62m (25-0) while Toryko Grace's weight throw mark of 20.66m (67-9½) is good for fifth on the NCAA Division II Descending Order List.

Ashland also saw a rise in its ranking, as it moved from sixth to fifth. Myles Pringle continued his dominate season, as he posted the top high jump in NCAA Division II this year at 2.18m (7-1¾) during the Kent State Tune Up in addition to running a 21.37 in the 200. That mark is good for fourth on the Descending Order List this year.

Adams State (third) and Grand Valley State (fourth) rounded out the top-five.

WOMEN -- While there was a significant change at the top of the NCAA Division II Men's National Team Rankings, the same cannot be said for the women's rankings this week.

Grand Valley State, West Texas A&M and Adams State remained in the top-three spots, respectively, in the Women's Team Rankings, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Lakers of GVSU saw Bobbie Goodwin notch the sixth-best weight throw mark of the NCAA Division II season at their home Tune Up this past weekend at 19.31m (63-4¼).
