GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following Week 3 of the 2018-19 indoor track and field season. Grand Valley State claimed two honors as Nicole Sreenan was women's track athlete of the week, and Alexis Duncan was women's field field athlete of the week. Men's awards went to Northwood's Mason Phillips in track and Saginaw Valley State's Ryan Kelly in field events.
WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Nicole Sreenan - Grand Valley State
Sreenan swept the women's 200 (:24.48) and 400 (:55.00) dashes at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open held Saturday in Allendale. She is ranked first in the GLIAC in both events. Nationally, Sreenan is ranked second in the 400 and fourth in the 200.
WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Alexis Duncan - Grand Valley State
Duncan placed second in the women's long jump at the Bob Eubanks Invitational. Her NCAA Provisional distance of 18-11 3/4 ranks first in the GLIAC and sixth in NCAA Division II.
MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Mason Phillips - Northwood
Phillips clocked a lifetime best :47.84 to win the men's 400-meter dash at the Bob Eubanks Open. His time, which is the second-fastest in Northwood history, ranks second in the GLIAC and seventh nationally.
MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Ryan Kelly - Saginaw Valley State
Kelly placed first in the men's shot put at Friday's SVSU Classic with a 59-2 1/4 toss. His NCAA Provisional distance set an indoor school record, and ranks first in the GLIAC and fourth in NCAA DII.
