Ashland sweeps Week 1 outdoor track and field honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the first week of the 2018-19 outdoor track and field season. Ashland swept the awards, with Tiffany Pryce winning in women's track, Lindsay Baker in women's field, Keshun Jones in men's track and Alex Hill in men's field.


WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Tiffany Pryce - Ashland

Senior Tiffany Pryce (Stow, Ohio) won the women's 800-meter run in 2:14.43 at the Weems Baskin Relays. Her time leads the GLIAC and ranks 12th nationally.


WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Lindsay Baker - Ashland

Redshirt freshman Lindsay Baker (East Liverpool, Ohio) took the women's shot put title with a provisional qualifying throw of 14.95 meters at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational. She also placed third in the discus throw (47.07 meters) and fifth in the hammer throw (54.08 meters/provisional qualifier). Baker ranks fourth nationally in the shot put, fifth in the hammer throw and 11th in the discus throw.


MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Keshun Jones - Ashland

Freshman Keshun Jones (Oakwood Village, Ohio) placed eighth in the men's 100-meter dash in :10.65 and qualified fourth in the 200 with a time of :21.50 at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational. He is ranked first in the GLIAC and 15th nationally in the 100, and first in the GLIAC and 21st nationally in the 200.


MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Alex Hill - Ashland

Junior Alex Hill (Mansfield, Ohio) won the men's discus throw and finished second in the hammer throw at the Adidas Withrop Invitational. He is ranked first in both events. Nationally, Hill's provisional qualifying hammer throw distance of 64.14 ranks second. He ranks seventh nationally and is a provisonal qualifier in the discus at 52.36 meters.
