Ashland's Pringle, Hill and Baker, and SVSU's Huebner secure Week 3 outdoor honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following Week 3 of the 2018-19 outdoor track and field season. Ashland's Lindsay Baker, Myles Pringle and Alex Hill claimed the women's field, men's track and men's field awards, while Saginaw Valley State's Lauren Huebner was the women's track athlete of the week. Hill and Baker also took field honors during Week 1 of the outdoor season.


WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Lauren Huebner - Saginaw Valley State

Saginaw Valley State junior Lauren Huebner (Saginaw, Mich.) won the women's 400-meter hurdles Saturday at the 2019 Auto Owners Insurance Spartan Invitational in a provisional qualifying time of :59.66. She leads the GLIAC and ranks fifth nationally in the event. She was also a member of the Cardinals' 4x100-meter relay, which placed third in :46.88 and .01 shy of a program record.


WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Lindsay Baker - Ashland

Redshirt freshman Lindsay Baker (East Liverpool, Ohio) moved into first place in the national rankings by winning the women's shot put at the Northeast Ohio Quad hosted by the University of Akron. She registered a new automatic qualifying distance of 16.41 meters. Baker also placed third in the women's hammer throw (58.04 meters) and second in the discus throw (50.54 meters), which are both provisional qualifiers. She now leads the nation in all three events.


MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Myles Pringle - Ashland

Senior Myles Pringle (Cincinnati, Ohio) made his outdoor season debut 40th annual Sun Angel Track Classic held Saturday in Tempe, Ariz. He won the Division I dominated men's 400-meter dash in :45.62, which is an automatic qualifying mark and the best in Division II this season.


MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Alex Hill - Ashland

Junior Alex Hill (Mansfield, Ohio) won the men's hammer throw at Saturday's Northeast Ohio Quad hosted by the University of Akron. He recorded an automatic qualifying distance of 65.91 meters, improving upon his former best of 64.14. He continues to rank second nationally in the event.
