Hillsdale's Charney Named to the WBCA Board of Directors

Hillsdale, Mich. -- Hillsdale College women's basketball head coach Claudette Charney was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. She will fill the role of Division II Legislative Chair, a position held for the past three years by Sue Ramsey, head coach at Ashland University.

Charney's appointment will span the next three years. The board is made up of several coaches from all three NCAA divisions. Geno Auriemma, the head coach of the University of Connecticut, is serving as the Past President of the board.

Charney is one of three Division II head coaches in the country to serve on the WBCA's board. She joins Cleve Wright from Gannon and Carmen Dolfo from Western Washington on this board from Division II institutions.

Charney is entering her 10th season coaching the Chargers in 2011-12. She has 483 career victories, and also serves as Associate Athletic Director at Hillsdale.
