WSU's Bridges and MU's Simmers Chosen As GLIAC Women's Basketball North and South Division "Players of the Week", Respectively

BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University senior forward Talisha Bridges (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix) and Malone University junior guard/forward Deborah Simmers (Anchorage, Alaska) have been chosen as the GLIAC Women's Basketball North and South Division "Players of the Week", respectively.

GLIAC North Division Player of the Week:

Wayne State University senior forward Talisha Bridges had a huge week for the Warriors as she scored a career-high 31 points and had eight rebounds at Ferris on Thursday solidifying WSU’s position in the North Division. She backed that up with a team-high 14 points on Saturday against Grand Valley. The Warriors took down the 3rd and 4th place teams in the division to position themselves firmly in second place merely percentage points behind Michigan Tech for the North lead.

Malone University
5-9, Junior Guard/Forward
Anchorage, Alaska

Malone Univerity junior guard Deborah Simmers helped the Pioneers tally a 1-1 record last week by averaging 17 points, 3.0 rebounds, two assists, and 1.5 blocks per contest. She posted a season-high 24 points to go with three rebounds, three assists and two blocks in Malone’s 75-60 home win over Hillsdale on Thursday.  Simmers then registered 10 points, three rebounds and two steals in a 67-55 loss at Findlay on Saturday.
