BAY CITY, Mich. - Lake Superior State University senior forward Maria Blazejewski (Beulah, Mich./Benzie Central) and Ashland University senior guard/forward Kari Daugherty (Fresno, Ohio/Dayton) have been chosen as the GLIAC Women's Basketball North and South Division "Players of the Week", respectively.
GLIAC North Division Player of the Week:

Lake Superior State senior Maria Blazejewski averaged 25.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game to lead LSSU, which lost both games at the Southern Indiana Thanksgiving Classic. She scored a career-high 32 points during Saturday's 76-75 loss and 19 points during a 64-51 loss to USI on Sunday. She shot 53.3 percent from the field (16-of-30) and made 17-of-20 free throws for 85 percent. It was Blazejewski's first time hitting the 30-point single-game benchmark.

Ashland University senior Kari Daugherty averaged 23.0 points 15.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in two games at the Ashland Holiday Inn Classic. She shot 63.3 percent from the floor and 83.3 from the free throw line. Daugherty had two double-doubles. That gives her six for the season and gives her a streak of 23 consecutive double-doubles dating back to last season. Daugherty is currently ranked second in the GLIAC for points per game with 25.5. She also leads the GLIAC in rebounds per game with 15.7.
