 BAY CITY, Mich. - Grand Valley State University senior forward Briauna Taylor (Livonia, Mich.) and Ashland University senior guard/forward Kari Daugherty (Fresno, Ohio/Dayton) have been chosen as the GLIAC Women's Basketball North and South Division "Players of the Week", respectively.

GLIAC North Division Player of the Week:

Briauna Taylor
Grand Valley State University

Livonia, Mich.

Grand Valley State University senior Briauna Taylor averaged 27 points and six rebounds in the Lakers wins against Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech.  Taylor tied her season-high with 24 points in the week’s first game against Northern Michigan.  The forward shot 57.8 percent against the Wildcats, hitting 11-of-19 from the field.  Taylor then bested herself with 30 points against Michigan Tech on Saturday.  She shot 48.8 percent for the week on 21-of-43 from the field, while also going 11-for-15 from the line.  Taylor has led the Lakers in scoring in five straight games and also leads the team in rebounding with a 6.8 average.

GLIAC South Division Player of the Week:

Kari Daugherty
Ashland Univeristy
6-1, Senior Guard/Forward
Fresno, Ohio/Dayton

Ashland University senior  Kari Daugherty scored a career-high 39 points at Malone. That ties her for the second highest single-game mark in school history. She was 14-for-14 at the free throw – that establishes the school single-game record for most free throws made without a miss. Daugherty scored 15 points in the first five minutes of the second half as AU went on a 20-3 run to erase a 33-32 halftime deficit – that’s the first time AU trailed at halftime since last year at Tiffin. For the week, Daugherty averaged 25.5 ppg., 17.5 rpg., and 2.5 apg. She has an NCAA Division II record 34 consecutive double-doubles.
